“Pay Attention to Iron in Human Body” a public welfare program for detecting iron index in CKD patients
Patients with renal disease, especially hemodialysis patients, always fail to access to timely and accurate correction and treatment when they suffer iron deficiency. In order to allow doctors to know clinic status of iron deficiency in hemodialysis patients, to use chalybeate according to inspection result of iron and clinic practical considerations and adjust therapeutic regimen for indirectly improving clinic management level of anemia, 3SBio carried out public welfare programs for iron detection from March to October of 2016, involving 3 hospitals in 12 provinces, with a total of 3229 patients accessing to benefit. In this program, 3SBio found that approximately 36.5% of second-class hospitals in China did not have professional iron testing equipment, and the total iron deficiency rate of all patients in the program was as high as 60.74%. In the future, 3SBio will organize a wider range of free iron detection programs to assist multidisciplinary doctors in more quickly and completely understanding iron deficiency status of patient, so that patients can receive timely and effective treatment.
